LEMP refers to the open source software components that make up this software stack:
- the Linux operating system
- the ngnix web server
- MySQL database management
- and the PHP programming language.
The LEMP Stack is a high-performance stack to flexibly serve web applications. It is a way to configure a web server and is used in a number of highly scalable applications on the Internet.
The difference with the LAMP Stack is that here the Apache web server is replaced by the ngnix web server. This has a different architecture, so it responds in a more predictable way to usage peaks of web applications.
